ATTICA — Rex Oakley, age 65, of Attica, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Sept. 14. Mr. Oakley was born Feb. 22, 1903, in Attica, the son of John and Rose Jones Oakley. He was a life resident of the community and he was married in Attica June 25, 1938, to Odette Phillippe, who survives. He retired from Purdue University in 1965 where he had been employed as a groundskeeper for eight years. He had formerly been a custodian at the Attica Moose Lodge and a crane operator for Harrison Steel Foundry. He was a member of the Attica Christian Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one brother, Max of Attica, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 2, at the DeSutter Funeral Home here. The Rev. Harry Randolph officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.   --waw
